Something is Special About Camp – Camp REYOAD

Something special happens at a camp that rarely happen elsewhere. It is a place where a person connects with God and others in an extraordinary way. We recently learned about a camp in Northern Indiana where people with special needs have been discovering this for over 50 years!

Sponsored by the United Methodist Church in Indiana, Camp REYOAD (REmarkable YOuth and ADults) is a Christian camp that happens one week each year at Epworth Forest Conference Center on the shores of beautiful Lake Webster, about 2.5 hours north of Indianapolis.  This year it will be held on June 12-17 and will feature the theme “REYOAD ROAD TRIP”, which will focus on the amazing journeys we all take in life, both physically and spiritually.

During the week, campers aged 16 and older live in cozy cabins according to age groups, share meals in a pleasant dining hall, and participate in a wide variety of activities that include spirited worship times, small group learning experiences (Bible studies, crafts, music, drama, nature, etc.), special evening events (movies, all-camp dance, carnival, talent night) and plenty of fun recreational events like swimming, fishing, boating, yard games and more.  There’s even a ride around the lake on the historic Dixie paddlewheel boat!

All of this is made possible by a caring crew of volunteer counselors, Conference Center staff, and several skilled nurses who work hard to ensure that fun and safety go hand-in-hand.

For more information about the camp, including camper eligibility, registration procedures, costs and camperships (financial assistance), click on the “Learn More” button below, then scroll down to the Camp REYOAD heading and click there as well.

You may also call or text the Camp REYOAD director, Rene DePew, at (260) 715-3601. You can also call the director if you’re at least 18 years old and would be interested in serving as a volunteer counselor for the week!
