Our first Summer Friendship Gathering at Living Hope Christian Church in Gaston is complete and God was moving.
Following the worship service on the third day, our friends with disabilities and caregivers stood up and shared their thoughts with the volunteers at the Gathering. Amanda, one of the caregivers, said they appreciated Living Hope having the Gathering year after year. They appreciated the way the congregation warmly welcomed both the adult friends and the staff into the church. They have all witnessed people making fun of the adult friends they care for when they are out in public. Amanda said it meant so much to know there was a place like Living Hope where they were all, not only accepted, but loved and welcomed with open arms. She got emotional as she shared, as did some of the other caregivers.

The Church is intended for all of us. We are all broken by the world, some more noticeably than others. Yet Jesus tell us all in Matthew 11, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Together we spent three days exploring the meaning of being created “in Christ” as His masterpiece for good works. Another Gathering starts next week at Trinity Lutheran Church and we get to do it again!
