T-shirts are Packed for the
2022 Summer Friendship Gatherings
One of our favorite moments each year is our annual “T-shirt folding party.” This watershed day ties together all the work preparing for the Summer Friendship Gatherings and informs us we are about to begin. There are 625 shirts all folded and packed in plastic tubs ready for ten Gatherings.
Our theme this summer will be “Reimagine Community.” We were not created to live in isolation, so we will take a close look at what the Bible says about Christian Community. These Gatherings are great opportunities for our friends with intellectual disabilities to build relationships and become part of a Christian community in a Friendship group that meets September through May.
The first Gathering will start June 7th and continue every week through July except for the 4th of July week. During the three weeks in July, we will have two Gatherings each week. We are past registration cutoff but will still take registrations. It doesn’t matter if you are part of a Friendship group or hearing about it for the first time.
There are also opportunities for volunteers to be part of this ministry. If you are a volunteer in a Friendship group, but have not yet registered, or someone new and interested in coming to a Gathering, you can register at https://connection-ministries.org/application/. For, volunteer over the age of 18, Connection Ministries will conduct a background screen.
